ABOUT THE
ARTIST

WHO'S LISH?

General

Hello! I'm Alicia ‘Lish’ Hoerman, aka BrokenLishbone, a Kansas City based artist & illustrator.

I earned my BFA from UCM majoring in studio art with an illustration emphasis. I primarily work digitally, but experiment with combining or translating pieces into traditional work. I'm currently

a Jr. Art Director with C3: Creative Consumer Concepts, as well as a freelance artist handling independent work or pursing personal projects.

Outside of my work I love thrifting, roller skating, sculpting my own costumes for conventions, as well as exploring childhood interests for inspiration, like collectables, old

movies & shows, or vintage games

My final semester of college I was honored to receive the Outstanding Undergraduate Award. Along with this, my work has been given awards from UCM's 52nd and 53rd and 54th annual citation shows.

The Art

I typically like to circle around morbid/death related topics, then add a coating of bright, candy-like colors to contrast the subject matter. While the majority of my art is digital, I love working traditionally as well when projects call for it.

I am currently open for commissions, so feel free to reach out with any projects!

Below is a more in depth excerpt about my work:

We’re all contortionists, fitting into the molds set before us for the sake of

our future. It’s easy to ignore who we are underneath a jester's makeup, to get lost

in wishing for the past or lose the present by aggressively pursuing the future.

Who are you really? What do you dream of? What do you fear?

I think of my work as fragments of a whole trying to answer those questions.

Snippets of the subconscious pushing through to the world like a stray plant in

cracked concrete. These pieces are my dreams, my hopes, my fears.

These are my thoughts & defining memories.

I’ve slowly rendered a world of dark comfort, macabre with a candy coating,

trying to make my discomforts more digestible, or even fun and playful.

To you, the viewer, this is an invitation to explore these worlds, these characters,

these moments. This is a hope that you might find joy in them, or even relate to their

stories. Thank you for throwing your eyes across my work,

and for the kind words along the way.

                                                                                                             - Lish
